We are excited to share that this year we will be implementing a “Parent Literacy Program” at St. Leonard School, to help some of our students who might need a little extra help to improve their reading.  We are seeking volunteers to support this school wide initiative. If you are a parent who is interested in volunteering for a couple of hours each week, reading with children of any grade, please consider this excellent opportunity to make a difference for our students.

We are looking for several volunteers ( the more volunteers, the more students who can participate) to work one-on-one with students in the Learning Commons for 1-2  blocks (1 morning or afternoon) each week. Volunteers who sign up with us, would work with up to 4 students for 30 minutes each. Please be aware that volunteer schedules will be created according to student schedules, and you will not be working with students in your child’s class. Activities will include sight word practise, decoding strategies,  reading leveled books, and working with words.

This program requires a regular commitment.  If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, please email me at Thank you!. We aim to start the program in the first week of October,  so submitting your response quickly is appreciated as we organize the schedule and reading materials. I will be contacting you to you confirm times as soon as the schedule is set up.
